January 1st 2016

Some days ago I decided that my New Year's Resolution was to give up Facebook for a year.  I posted this information on Facebook for everyone to see and to see how many would want to stay in contact over the coming year.  It was surprising the people who asked to stay in touch via What's App, text, email etc and surprising those who didn't.

So Day 1 and I still have to deactivate my account.  In my defence, I am trying to sell some Babywearing wraps and have one interested party.  I am going to contact her today and see if she is happy to deal with me without FB and if not, deactivation will actually commence on Jan 4th at some point.

So, what lead me to this resolution.  Well, my older children had been asking me for some time not to post pictures of them on FB so I complied.  Then when I was asking the to stay off their Ipad's they told me I spent too much time on Facebook and that's when it hit me.  I complain I have no time to do my sewing, knitting, house decorating, cooking etc, not time to play with my children, but I have plenty of time for Facebook.

Keeping up with friends lives is exhausting.  I feel my children are always lacking because there is always someone posting about having a fabulous meal out, a fantastic evening at the cinema a fun walk, lovely family time.  I started feeling inadequate and jealous whilst reading these posts.  Everyone was reading such fantastic lives and I was stuck at home, on Faecebook, reading about them.

2016 is my way of showing myself and my children that we have plenty of time.  We can make memories together, we can go out and have fun and I won't be tied to my phone or laptop checking status updates and seeing what everyone else is doing that I'm not.

I am going to keep a diary of everything we do throughout this year, something for me to look back on and something to show my gorgeous children at the end of the year.  If you want to read it then that's great, but this is my record of 2016.
